On a hot, blistery day, after loading down the Land Cruisers with medical supplies and many, many boxes of food, we traveled over an hour and a half through the desert, much of the time, not a road in sight.
Nabuskal is so remote that they have rarely been visited by the outside world. SERV International had brought food to this remote village in the past, but this was RMM’s first venture into the world of mobile medical missions. And oh what a venture! If you have never been greeted by Spirit-filled, joy-filled villagers who love The Lord, despite not knowing where their next meal will come from or when, it is a unique and uplifting experience and a venture that I pray you can be engulfed in someday.
After much celebration, singing and dancing, prayer and introductions, our mission shifted to the tasks of the day.
Some of our team demonstrated the cooking method of the SERV food, some served the food (who knows how long it had been since their last food), some distributed bags of SERV food, and Mike Stevenson (a RMM Board member) and I had the awesome privilege of helping with RMM’s first ever mobile medical clinic.
We helped with providing medical care to over 120 villagers in about a 2 hour window. It was hectic, it was confusing at times, it was glorious and it was definitely humbling. To think that God allowed us to pass along His provision to His people in such an intimate and God-glorifying setting! Oh what a venture. I ask that you add the special people of Nabuskal to your daily prayers as they struggle to have the resources to sustain life on a daily basis and yet radiate the joy of The Lord more than most believers.
